You ask an AI assistant about your own business and it gets something wrong: old hours, a service you do not offer, or a different address. It is tempting to argue with the assistant. That rarely works. Fix the sources instead.

Step 1: Write down exactly what it said

Note the question you asked, the tool, the date, and the wrong statement. Answers vary from one day to the next, so ask the same question a few times and record each reply. This is a manual check, so label it that way.

Step 2: Look for where the error could come from

AI tools draw on public pages. Check, in this order:

  • Your own website, including old pages you forgot about
  • Your Google Business Profile and other listings
  • Directory pages and old press or social posts

If an outdated fact appears anywhere in that list, that is your likely source.

Step 3: Fix, then make the truth easy to find

Update or remove the wrong pages. Then state the correct facts plainly on one clear page, in the same words everywhere. Clear, consistent pages are easier to quote correctly.

Step 4: Re-check, and be patient

Changes can take time to show up, and no one can guarantee when an assistant will change its answer. Re-ask the same questions in a few weeks and compare with your notes. If it is still wrong, that is useful evidence for the next round of fixes.
